May joy reign (Tereza Gazhiyova)

When the Blessed Virgin Mary tells us that darkness and hopelessness rule in many hearts it means that many hearts are without
God. God is the Light and there is no darkness in Him as Sacred Scripture tells us. When we are in darkness we can not see. We
are blind. Sin and distance from God may be the reasons for this darkness. “For everyone who does wicked things hates the
light” (John, 3:20). Fear and distrust make us blind. Unforgiveness and emotional wounds are the reasons that give rise to anger
and violence and may also cause darkness. Sometimes darkness reigns when we are tired, exhausted or mentally ill. Sometimes
God allows darkness for our faith to be purified and deepen. Such an example is Saint Mother Teresa. She had experienced
spiritual darkness for many years however nothing stopped her from loving God and her neighbours. She became the saint of the
darkness, іntercessor and an example for those who experience darkness in their souls.
The darkness disappears as soon as the light is lit. Our Lady also calls us to do this: “ While darkness and peacelessness rule in
many hearts, you, little children, be prayer and My extended hands of love”. John the disciple writes: “The light shines in the
darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:5).
“ I desire for all of you to be with Me in eternity, because you are a part of Me. I will help you on your way. My love will
envelop you like a mantle and make of you apostles of My light – of God’s light. With the love that comes forth from humility
you will bring light to where darkness/blindness rule. You will be bringing My Son Who is the light of the world”, – She said to
us in Her July 2, 2014 message.
In prayer the light is kindled. Since we meet God we begin to see. A pure heart sees God everywhere. It is filled with light.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Mt. 5:8).
One day Mother Teresa was walking down the street when she noticed a man lying on the ground. Many people were passing by
him including her fellow nuns. Nobody payed any attention to him or asked whether he was all right. Only Mother Teresa
stopped. Her fellow nuns asked her: “How is it possible that we did not see him but you did?” Mother Teresa taught them that a
pure heart sees God. If our hearts are free from sin we are able to see God.
Mary calls us to place the Sacred Scripture in a visible place in our families and to read it, so that it may encourage us to
conversion and a new life. Word of God brings us back into God’s presence. When we strive to live according to God’s Word
every day we become able to be fully present here and now in love wherever we are. We begin to see what is needed at the
moment. We see God.
We have been hearing this invitation for 45 years at the school of Our Lady: “Carry out two messages every day: pray the Rosary
and read Sacred Scripture”. The first message leads to the second one. The Rosary leads us to life according to the Gospel. Mary
tells us clearly what happens when the Sacred Scripture is read in the family: “The Word of God will be a light in the darkness
that absorbs the world”. “Many false truths are being presented to you. There is only one Truth and it is found in the words of
My Son – the Gospel”. “When you read the Sacred Scripture God is born anew in your hearts and families”. The family altar
where an open Bible is placed is a sign that God speaks in our family.
Let us make a plan for this month in accordance with Her motherly advices:
– purify our hearts through good Holy Confession and sincere repentance;
– pray more;
– resolve to do good with a pure intention and out of love for God;
– forgive;
– live the Eucharist and God’s word.
In this way, what Our Lady desires will be fulfilled, as She says to us : “ I desire to commend to the Heart of My Son Jesus, so
that He, the Risen One, may reign in you and joy may begin to reign in you and around you”.
Prayer
Mary, Our Mother, we love You. We want to listen to Your Motherly words. At this moment we desire to reward for offences
committed against Your Immaculate Heart. We beseech You help us to pray more and to keep the Words of God in our hearts and
in our families. Help us always to choose what is good and to become unconquerable in love. We desire to become more like You
and to be Your hands of love. We consecrate ourselves to Your Immaculate Heart. Entrust us to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for Him
to reign over every darkness, wound, fear and disease according to Your desire. May the Risen One bring joy through our lives to
everyone around us. Amen.
