In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit. Amen.
Come, Holy Spirit, come by means of the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Your Beloved Spouse! (3x)
Lk 23, 35b-43
The people stood there watching. Meanwhile, the rulers jeered at him and said, “He saved others. Let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One.” Even the soldiers mocked him. As they came forward to offer him sour wine, they said, “If you are the King of the Jews, save yourself!” There was also an inscription above his head that said, “This is the King of the Jews.”One of the criminals hanging there taunted Jesus, saying, “Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other rebuked him, “Have you no fear of God, since you are under the same sentence? In our case, we have been condemned justly, for we are getting what we deserve for our deeds. But this man has committed no wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus said to him, “Amen, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
To bELIEVE THAT JESUS RULES THE WORLD
What do I ask for?
For A heart committed to the rule of Jesus—despite and amidst suffering.
• “The people stood watching” (v. 35). I will stand in the crowd gathered under the cross and contemplate Jesus Crucified for a long moment. I will ask for deep empathy for his suffering.
• I will listen to the cries of the people who mock and insult Jesus (vv. 35–36). I will notice how the cries and anger contrast with Jesus’ quietness and patience. He responds to the insults with silence.
• One of the criminals could not bear Jesus’ silent and humble demeanor (v. 39). What can I say about my attitude toward those who hurt me? Do I believe in love being stronger than hate?
• Jesus, who allows himself to be crucified by human hatred, shows that man and the whole world can only be won by love.
• I will listen carefully to the words of the thief who experiences his conversion on the cross (vv. 41-42). Only the Crucified Jesus was able to conquer the heart of the criminal and transform it (v. 43). Jesus also asks me to allow him to become the king of my heart – even if it is burdened with sin.
• I will reflect on my sins that are most difficult for me to surrender to Jesus. I will ask the Holy Spirit for a deep faith that Jesus wants to be with me as with the thief, so that I can experience his purifying love. He desires that I ask him like the thief on the cross. What would I most like to ask him for at this moment?
• I confess my love to Jesus. I open my heart to him. I surrender myself to him as I am, confessing: “You are Lord and King of my life.”
In the school of Our Lady:
Medjugorje is the confessional of the world. In Mary’s presence, it is easier to open our hearts to Jesus in Holy Confession. She helpes us to confess to Him the sins for which we are most ashamed, or which we do not even see.

“Dear children; today I call you to a difficult and painful step for your unity with my Son. I call you to complete admission and confession of sins, to purification. An impure heart cannot be in my Son and with my Son. An impure heart cannot give the fruit of love and unity. An impure heart cannot do correct and just things; it is not an example of the beauty of God’s love to those who surround it and to those who have not come to know that love. You, my children, are gathering around me full of enthusiasm, desires and expectations, and I implore the Good Father to, through the Holy Spirit, put my Son – faith, into your purified hearts. My children, obey me, set out with me.
Mary, help me to confess sincerely. Help me to firmly believe that Jesus awaits my words of repentance, as He waited for the criminal’s plea to forgive me and receive me into paradise. Amen.
The prayer of consecration to Jesus through Mary
Holy Virgin Mary, today before You and in Your hands I renew and confirm the vows of Holy Baptism.
I renounce satan forever, his works; and I consecrate myself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ. I want to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life according to the will of the Heavenly Father.
O Mary, in the presence of all the heavenly court and the whole Church I consecrate myself to Your Immaculate Heart. Be my Mother and Queen. In complete submission and love I give You and consecrate to You my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, the value of all my good actions, past, present and future leaving to thee the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me according to thy good pleasure, for the greater gloryof God in time and in eternity. Amen.
