Be positive people of prayer (Fr. Lubo Kurtovych, OFM)
Our Lady of Medjugorje’s January 25, 2026 Monthly Message:
“Dear children, Today, I am calling you to be prayer and a blessing for all those who have not come to know God’s
love. Little children, be different from others and be positive people of prayer and love towards God, that with your
lives, you may be a sign of God’s love to others. I bless you with My Motherly blessing and intercede for each of you
before My Son Jesus. Thank you for having responded to My call.” (With ecclesiastical approval)
Last month in Her message Our Lady called us to work on our own hearts so that they may become similar to Jesus’s
Heart. What is Jesus’s Heart like? Jesus says himself that He meek and humble of Heart (Mt. 11, 29). Jesus is a Man of
suffering, His Heart was pierced yet it was never possessed by hatred or revenge. Jesus showed us the path that we
should walk.
As a Mother Our Lady calls us to be prayer and blessing and not to force others into holiness rather we are to witness
holiness. This is a Motherly call of Our Lady to the conversion of our own hearts. Conversion is our decision to chage
toward good and love. Good and evil are present and active within each person. We are called to see good and praise it
instead of passing on evil and judging others. When we judge others we turn toward evil we see in them, thus, we
ourselves become evil.
How can we correct and help others? The most reliable way is to become moral and righteous people ourselves. Jesus
said that we are the leaven of society, the light of the world and the salt of the earth. Asking others to be different when
we are not is a vain task. We cannot demand that sugar sault the soup instead we must take the salt.
How can what we are become a possession of others? How can our conversion change others? It happens when we
approach them. How? Not by telling them to follow us but by loving them, giving thanks to God for them, forgiving
them their immorality and evil. Then good that is within us will pass on to them. When we do this every day then
others will become better and better and we become a sign of God’s love for others.
Prayer
Virgin Mary, when You held Your Son Jesus as an infant in Your Motherly embrace You heard the prophetic words of
the elder Simeon in the temple: “A sword of sorrow will pierce your soul”. You did not fully understand what awaited
You in the future. Thank You for remaining faithful and trusting God even when You did not know everything. Teach
us to believe, teach us to live and to entrust our lives to God’s hands so that even in pain we may feel God’s love which
can change everything and make it new in a divine way. Obtain for us grace so that we may be a sign of God’s love for
our neighbors. Amen
