The invitation of Our Lady to go into nature, to pray and to listen to God is an invitation to follow Jesus. She teaches us to learn from nature through all that is created. Jesus loved nature, and he knew that both the Father and the power of the Holy Spirit were in nature. In the parables, he talked a lot about nature: „It (the kingdom of God) is like a mustard seed that a person took and planted in the garden. When it was fully grown, it became a large bush and ‘the birds of the sky dwelt in its branches“ (Lk 13:19). “Notice the ravens: they do not sow or reap; they have neither storehouse nor barn, yet God feeds them. How much more important are you than birds!” (Lk 12:24) and many others.
God speaks to us through the wild flowers, the birds of the air, the fish, the fig tree, the vineyard, the grain, the sun, and the night. Everything speaks to us of his existence; nature could not have been made by man. To go into nature is to leave the world made by man for the world made by God.
There is so much we can learn from nature, but we can also see how much there is in our lives against it. Without love for nature we are empty, without joy and far from God the Creator. He created all things out of love for us and above all the crown of all creation – man, who is to bear his responsibility for creation, as the Psalmist says, “You have given them rule over the works of your hands, put all things at their feet“ (Psalm 8:7).
Our Lady teacher us, „In nature seek God who created you, because nature speaks and fights for life and not for death“ (March 25, 2019). „God wants to save you and sends you messages through men, nature, and so many things which can only help you to understand that you must change the direction of your life“ (March 25,1990).
One walk in prayer with a desire to hear what God is saying can change our lives. As the German philosopher Kant wrote, “Two things fill the mind with ever new and increasing admiration and awe, the more often and steadily we reflect upon them: the starry heavens above me and the moral law within me.”
Jesus’ parables drawn from nature opened the hearts of his listeners for love. This is what Our Lady calls us to do: to bear witness to God’s love for creation. The beauty of nature is the message of life.
God’s most beautiful creation is human beings, each and every one of us. He gave man the gift of man. Sadly, today we are witnessing a terrifying deviation against life, against nature. Man is killing man. All over the world there are places where there are wars and where the earth is saturated with human blood and needless graveyards. The Creator does not want us to destroy and kill one another.
In a dream, God spoke to a soldier who was angry with God because he did not protect his uncle who had been killed in war. He heard the voice sayinf, “My son, I took your uncle to myself because he did not want to kill my children.”
Our Lady calls us, “Today, like never before, I invite you to prayer. Let your prayer be a prayer for peace. Satan is strong and desires to destroy not only human life, but also nature and the planet on which you live. Therefore, dear children, pray that through prayer you can protect yourselves with God’s blessing of peace” (January 25, 1991).
Let us praise God with a song of praise from the book of Daniel for all creation. This song of praise is sung by three young Hebrew men thrown into a furnace because they refused to worship the statue of King Nebuchadnezzar, the terrible Babylonian ruler who destroyed the holy city of Jerusalem and deported the Israelites to the “rivers of Babylon” (cf. Psalm 137). In the extreme danger, when the flames licked their bodies, they find strength to “praise, glorify and magnify God,” in the certainty that the Lord of the universe and the history will not give them up to death and nothingness. May the words of this hymn of praise bring down God’s power and protection upon us, our families and all creation:
Bless the Lord, all you works of the Lord, praise and exalt him above all forever.
Angels of the Lord, bless the Lord, praise and exalt him above all forever.
