Mary carries to us Little Jesus with God’s Heart, the Heart which we also worship as a burning flame of love. His Heart always shines with love. This burning fire never grows cold or fades. It never ceases and never grows weary of loving us. The radiance of His love does not grow dim.
He desires us to be similar to Him. That is not merely a sweet desire that seems to us beyond our reach. Our heart truly may become like the Heart of Jesus. The Church teaches us to pray: “Jesus, meek and humble of Heart, make our hearts like unto Thine”. Jesus, set our hearts on fire with Your love. The fire ignites everything that is near it. If we want to shine with Jesus’s love and peace we should often remain close to Him allowing Him to touch our hearts in prayer, Adoration and the Eucharist.
Mary calls us to be resolute and courageous defenders of His love. This means doing good deeds and living according to the Gospel.
Jesus’s Heart, the furnace of love, was burning even on the Cross. To be similar to Him means to love courageously – to love when it hurts, to forgive when it is difficult and to persevere in goodness even when we do not feel joy.
It is not easy not to be frightened by evil or hatred and to love when the heart is wounded by injustice. For us to be able to live in that way, we must maintain a close relationship with Jesus. While He was on the earth He remained in constant communion with His Father through prayer. God thinks of everything and knows what we forget. Therefore He allows Mary to come to earth to help us with this. In one of Her messages given through the visionary Jakov She calls us:
“…I am calling you to complete surrender to Jesus. Little children, surrender to Him your wounds and pains, your past and future, and permit Jesus to begin to rule in your lives. My children, only with complete surrender, Jesus gives Himself in your life, and this is the greatest gift that you can receive. Pray that you may comprehend how precious you are for Jesus and how much He loves you”
This Christmas message is the best guidance for the healing of our hearts and at the same time the best plan for bringing the last day of the old year to a close in silence and beginning the new one with hope.
In this time of grace let us find space for sharing with Jesus our wounds, fears and frustrations. Let us do it in the Sacrament of Holy Confession.
Surrendering ourselves to Jesus is not a feeling. This is an act. This is a decision. Mary completely surrendered Herself to God even when She did not understand many things. She surrendered Herself to God’s will and received the greatest gift – God Himself. Let us ask Her to teach us this.
Prayer
Jesus, the King of Peace, with trust we give You the past year. Thank You for all that is good but also for what hurts us. Jesus, the King of Peace, rule in our lives, heal us, console us and strengthen us so that we may courageously defend Your love. We entrust to You the new year – may we live it with love according to the plans of peace You entrusted to Your Mother. Mary, help us to believe that we are beloved and precious despite our weakness and falls. Queen of Peace, be vigil over the world and obtain for us the precious gift of peace. Amen
