In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit. Amen.
Come, Holy Spirit, come by means of the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Your Beloved Spouse! (3x)
Lk 19, 11-28
While the people were listening to him speak, Jesus went on to tell them a parable, because now he was near Jerusalem and because they thought that the kingdom of God might appear immediately. He said, “A man of noble birth was preparing to go to a distant country to receive a kingdom and then return. So he summoned ten of his servants and gave them ten gold coins, instructing them, ‘Trade with the money I have given you until I return.’ But the citizens of his country hated him and sent a delegation after him to give this message, ‘We do not want this man to be our king.’ “When he returned after having been made king, he sent for the servants to whom he had given the money to ascertain what profit they had made through their trading. The first came forward and said, ‘Sir, your money has increased tenfold in value.’ He said to him, ‘Well done, my good servant. Because you have proved trustworthy in this very small matter, you shall be in charge of ten cities.’ “Next, the second servant came forward and said, ‘Sir, your money has increased fivefold in value.’ He said to him, ‘You shall be in charge of five cities.’ “Then the third one came forward, saying, ‘Sir, here is your money. I kept it wrapped up in a handkerchief. For I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did not put down, and you reap what you did not sow.’ “The master said to him, ‘I will condemn you by your own words, you wicked servant. You knew I was a hard man, taking out what I did not put down, and reaping what I did not sow. Why then did you not deposit my money into a bank so that on my return I could have drawn it out with interest?’ “Then he said to those standing by, ‘Take the money from him and give it to the one with the ten gold coins.’ They said to him, ‘But sir, he already has ten gold coins.’ He replied, ‘I tell you, to everyone who has, more will be given, but from the one who has not, even what he does have will be taken away. But as for those enemies of mine who did not want me for their king, bring them here and put them to death in my presence.’ ” After he had said this, Jesus proceeded on his journey up to Jerusalem.
MULTIPLY THE GOOD which you have RECEIVED
What do I ask for?
For wisdom and strength of will to multiply the good which I have received.
• The end of the liturgical year is approaching. The Church presents to me the Word of Jesus, so that I may reflect in my heart on how I have used the gifts that I have received in the past. In the light of the parable of the minas, I will try to evaluate my current state of life.
• “He gave them ten minas” (v. 13). I will return to the most important moments of the last period of my life. What gifts, talents do I see in myself? What good inspirations were born in my heart? What do I consider to be the greatest gift of the past period?
• “Trade until I return” (v. 13). Jesus makes me aware that every good is his gift. He has entrusted it to me. He trusts me. He expects generosity and commitment in life from me. How have I “invested” this year’s good?
• “He called his servants (…) to see how much each one had gained.” (v. 15). Jesus asks me what I have gained as a person, as a Christian; what I have gained in my calling? I will look at my humanity, at my faith, at my calling.
• “Well done, good servant” (v. 17). Jesus rejoices in every good thing I have multiplied. What have I done to him that has brought him the greatest joy? Do I feel like a “good servant” when I look at myself?
• “Wicked servant…” (vv. 22-23). What feelings does a conversation with a wicked servant evoke in me? What do I consider to be my greatest neglect of the past?
• “I was afraid…” (v. 21). Are there any fears in me that hinder the development of goodness? Which fear hinders me the most? I will name it and give it to Jesus.
• I will bring to Jesus the good that has borne fruit in me in the past. I will ask him to bless and multiply it. I will confess with love: “You are the source of all goodness.”
In the school of Our Lady:
Mary teaches us to see and thank God for even the smallest gift.
September 25, 1989
Dear children! Today I invite you to give thanks to God for all the gifts you have discovered in the course of your life and even for the least gift that you have perceived. I give thanks with you and want all of you to experience the joy of these gifts. And I want God to be everything for each one of you. And then, little children, you can grow continuously on the way of holiness. Thank you for responding to my call.
Mary, help us to multiply and develop the gifts we have received. Obtain for us the courage and wisdom to use the good we have received correctly. Amen
The prayer of consecration to Jesus through Mary
Holy Virgin Mary, today before You and in Your hands I renew and confirm the vows of Holy Baptism.
I renounce satan forever, his works; and I consecrate myself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ. I want to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life according to the will of the Heavenly Father.
O Mary, in the presence of all the heavenly court and the whole Church I consecrate myself to Your Immaculate Heart. Be my Mother and Queen. In complete submission and love I give You and consecrate to You my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, the value of all my good actions, past, present and future leaving to thee the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me according to thy good pleasure, for the greater gloryof God in time and in eternity. Amen.
