33rd day – 7th December

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit. Amen.

Come, Holy Spirit, come by means of the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Your Beloved Spouse! (3x)

Mt 3, 1-12

In those days, John the Baptist appeared in the desert of Judea, preaching: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is close at hand.” This was the man of whom the prophet Isaiah spoke when he said: “The voice of one crying out in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.’ ”  John’s clothing was made of camel’s hair, with a leather loincloth around his waist, and his food consisted of locusts and wild honey. The people of Jerusalem and the whole of Judea and the entire region along the Jordan went out to him, and as they confessed their sins they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. But when he observed many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming for baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Produce good fruit as proof of your repentance. Do not presume to say to yourselves: ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones. Even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore, every tree that does not bear good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. “I baptize you with water for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is more powerful than I am. I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fan is in his hand. He will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”

To DECIDE TO LIVE according to THE GOSPEL

What do I ask for?

A sincere and strong desire for conversion.

• I will look to the extraordinary figure of John the Baptist, who powerfully announces the coming of the Savior. I will engage my sight, hearing, and imagination in prayer to personally encounter the zealous one of God.

• The personality of John the Baptist attracts people with his radicalism and uncompromisingness. He is a man of the desert and prayer. His lifestyle and convincing words cause people to perceive him as a prophet and confess their sins to him. He gains authority even among the social and religious elites (vv. 5-7).

• What can I say about my personality as a disciple of Christ? Can I be radical and uncompromising in matters of faith and in fulfilling my calling? Do I not compromise in my lifestyle and ministry?

• I notice that John the Baptist speaks very difficult and unpopular words. He does not care about his own reputation or fame. He calls evil by its right name. He especially exposes the superficiality of religious life (v. 9).

• I will pause longer at the words: “The axe is already laid to the root of the trees…” (v. 10). I listen to these words with a vehement tone addressed to me. What is the main root of my sins? In what do I need conversion most? I will express it honestly before Jesus.

• John is focused with his whole being on the expected Savior. He does not overshadow Jesus. He wants to awaken in people the desire to meet the Messiah. He emphasizes that Jesus is more powerful than he is (vv. 11–12).

• In the spoken prayer, I will ask John the Baptist to help me become courageous and radical in my following of Jesus. I will repeat: “Jesus, I want to be faithful to you like John the Baptist.”

In the school of Our Lady:

Our Lady has appeared for the first time in Medjugorje on the feast of St. John the Baptist. In the first days of her apparitions she said: I have come to invite humanity to conversion

The last time, the most important message I have given you is the invitation to conversion.

March 25, 2001

Dear children! Also today I call you to open yourselves to prayer. Little children, you live in a time in which God gives great graces but you do not know how to make good use of them. You are concerned about everything else, but the least for the soul and spiritual life. Awaken from the tired sleep of your soul and say yes to God with all your strength. Decide for conversion and holiness. I am with you, little children, and I call you to perfection of your soul and of everything you do. Thank you for having responded to my call.

Mary, help us to live God’s commandments without compromise. Intercede for us, that we may persevere on the path of conversion, and live according to the Gospel. Amen.

The prayer of consecration to Jesus through Mary

Holy Virgin Mary, today before You and in Your hands I renew and confirm the vows of Holy Baptism.

I renounce satan forever, his works; and I consecrate myself  to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ. I want to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life according to the will of the Heavenly Father.

O Mary, in the presence of all the heavenly court and the whole Church I consecrate myself to Your Immaculate Heart. Be my Mother and Queen. In complete submission and love I give You and consecrate to You my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, the value of all my good actions, past, present and future leaving to thee the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me according to thy good pleasure, for the greater gloryof God in time and in eternity. Amen.
