In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy spirit. Amen.
Come, Holy Spirit, come by means of the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Your Beloved Spouse! (3x)
Luke 17: 20-25
Once, the Pharisees asked him when the kingdom of God was coming. He answered, “The coming of the kingdom of God will not occur with signs that can be observed. Nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is.’ For the kingdom of God is in your midst.” Then he said to his disciples, “The time will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. People will say to you, ‘Look, there he is,’ or ‘Look, here he is.’ Do not go running after them. For just as lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day. But first he must endure great suffering and be rejected by this generation.
To be vigilant AND to EXPECT
What do I ask for?
For a pure heart prepared for the coming of Jesus.
• In the last weeks of the liturgical year, I am invited to eschatological meditation. Jesus directs my attention to his coming at the end of time. Do I believe in his coming? How often do I meditate on it?
• Jesus teaches me to perceive the kingdom of God, which is in the midst of my daily life (v. 21). I should not ask when the kingdom will come, but whether I can already perceive its riches in my daily life. What signs of his kingdom do I see around me?
• I will pause longer with my thoughts and feelings related to the last times. What impulses arise in me? What questions do I ask myself most often? Do I long for the coming of Jesus?
• The expectation of the Lord’s coming can focus me on questions that hide simple curiosity and a tendency to seek sensational news (vv. 22–23). It is not important when and how he comes, but whether I am ready to meet him. Am I ready?
• Jesus’ coming will be as sudden as the flash of lightning that appears in heaven (v. 24). I can already meet him “here and now” in prayer, in the word, in the sacraments…
• Jesus reminds me of his suffering, his rejection (v. 25). My path to union with him leads through life, even through moments of difficult experience. Whatever happens, he will ultimately triumph and come in glory.
• In a warm conversation with Jesus, I entrust my entire future to him. I entrust to him especially the last days of my life, about which I now know nothing. I surrender myself to him, repeating the words: “Into your hands I place my yesterday, my today, and my tomorrow.”
In the school of Our Lady:
Mary not only leads us to Jesus but also teaches us to wait for him. When we follow Mary, the encounter with Jesus will be the fulfillment of our heart’s desire, not sudden, but eagerly anticipated.

“Dear children! Pray, witness and rejoice with me because the Most High continues to send me to lead you on the way of holiness. Be aware, little children, that life is short, and eternity is waiting for you to give glory to God with your being, with all the saints. Little children, do not worry about earthly things, but long for Heaven. Heaven will be your goal and joy will begin to reign in your heart. I am with you and bless all of you with my motherly blessing. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
Mary, teach us to await the Lord in the midst of daily events in purity of heart, in vigilance, in love. Help us to love Jesus with all our hearts, for those who love him will not be surprised when he comes. In your Immaculate Heart we entrust the rest of our earthly life and we ask you to help us follow you in eager anticipation of the Lord’s coming. Amen.
The prayer of consecration to Jesus through Mary
Holy Virgin Mary, today before You and in Your hands I renew and confirm the vows of Holy Baptism.
I renounce satan forever, his works; and I consecrate myself to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ. I want to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life according to the will of the Heavenly Father.
O Mary, in the presence of all the heavenly court and the whole Church I consecrate myself to Your Immaculate Heart. Be my Mother and Queen. In complete submission and love I give You and consecrate to You my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, the value of all my good actions, past, present and future leaving to thee the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me according to thy good pleasure, for the greater gloryof God in time and in eternity. Amen.
