Be prayer and My extended hands (Fr. Lubo Kurtovych, OFM)

Our Lady of Medjugorje’s July 25, 2026 message
“Dear children! While darkness and peacelessness rule in many hearts, you, little children, be prayer and My extended
hands of love. Little children, place the Sacred Scripture in a visible place in your family and read it, so that it may be an
encouragement for you to conversion and a new life; because satan is strong and seduces hearts. Your hearts, through My
maternal Heart, I desire to commend to the Heart of My Son Jesus, so that He, the Risen One, may reign in you and joy
may begin to reign in you and around you. Thank you for having responded to My call” (With Ecclesiastical approval).
In Her message on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Her apparitions Our Lady called us to joy and gratitude because
God has bestowed on us so many graces through Her presence and apparitions in order to lead us to Jesus Who is the Way, the
Truth and the Life.
For these 45 years God has been giving us through Our Lady countless graces so we can and should live as people with
grateful hearts. In Medjugorje Our Lady, the Queen of Peace, as throughout the whole history of the Church, acts as every true
mother does. She loves her children but she can not live their lives and make decisions for them. A mother calls, loves,
forgives, suffers and does not gets weary of her children.
As Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort writes in Treatise on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin: “God the Holy Spirit
entrusted His wondrous gifts to Mary, His faithful spouse, and chose Her as the dispenser of all he possesses, so that She
distributes all His gifts and graces to whom She wills, as much as She wills, how She wills and when She wills. No heavenly
gift is given to men which does not pass through Her virginal hands. Such indeed is the will of God, Who has decreed that we
should have all things through Mary.. (№ 25)
God gives us His graces through the Mother of His Son. Her deepest desire and constant longing are to lead us toward Jesus
Christ: “…through My maternal Heart, I desire to commend to the Heart of My Son Jesus”.
In this message Our Lady seems to make a spiritual diagnosis of the state of many human hearts with Her maternal gaze.
Exactly because of this sad state which many hearts dwell in Mother Mary calls everyone who hears Her call to participate in
the work of healing and of getting rid of the state of darkness and peacelessness. We should feel the responsibility and
spiritually help Mother Mary in the healing of wounded human hearts. Prayer and love are the means by which we can help
Her.
We should comprehend that we can not change anyone by our own human strength. Therefore we need God’s strength and
grace. God grants His grace to those who ask Him for it.
We can give others and help only in what we ourselves know and live.
Christianity is, above all, a way of life, not merely knowledge. Jesus says: “You have heard it said: “Love your neighbor and
hate your enemy”. But I tell you: love your enemies and pray for those who hurt and mistreat you. In doing this, you show that
you belong to your Father in Heaven. He gives sunlight to both the good and the bad, and He sends rain on both the righteous
and the unrighteous” (Mt. 5, 43-45)
Why should we love our enemies? Why should we pray for them? Jesus does not say: “Pray for your enemies and they will
change. Christianity does not desire to change the world by asking God to change others.
Christianity changes the world when there is a change within me. Prayer for my enemies means a transformation of myself.
Only by changing our own hearts and allowing God to remove our hearts of stone out of our bodies and to give us hearts of
flesh can we help change others and at least help make our small part of the world a better place.
Prayer
Virgin Mary, filled with grace and God’s love, God gives us His grace and love through You. We beseech You, o Mother,
obtain for us from the Heavenly Father and Your Son the transformation and conversion of our hearts for us to be able not only
to pray day by day but to become prayer and to share God’s love with others. We desire to give our hearts to Your Maternal
Immaculate Heart so that You may commend them to the Heart of Your Son and Our Savior. You, o Virgin Mary, Who
defeated satan, do not allow him to seduce our hearts which strive to belong completely to Jesus through Your Maternal Heart.

Amen.
